Welcome to Saltong Hub! By accessing or using our website and services at saltong.carldegs.com (the "Service"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Saltong Hub, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Saltong Hub.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Saltong Hub. By using our Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the Service.

3. Use of Services

3.1 Permitted Use

You may use Saltong Hub for personal, non-commercial purposes to:

  • Play word games (Saltong, Hex, and other available games)
  • Create and manage a user account
  • Track your game statistics and progress
  • Share your game results on social media platforms

3.2 Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms or applicable laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, user accounts, or databases
  • Distribute malware, viruses, or any harmful code through the Service
  • Engage in any activity that disrupts, interferes with, or imposes an unreasonable burden on our Service or infrastructure
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service or play games (except for accessibility purposes)
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
  • Violate any intellectual property rights of Saltong Hub or third parties
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity
  • Harvest or collect user information without consent
  • Use the Service to transmit spam, phishing attempts, or unsolicited communications

4. User Accounts

4.1 Account Registration

To access certain features (such as game statistics, progress tracking, and personalized content), you may create an account using:

  • Email and password authentication (via Supabase Auth)
  • Third-party OAuth providers (Google, GitHub, Discord)

When creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of your account credentials
  • Not share your account or login credentials with others
  • Notify us immediately at carl@carldegs.com of any unauthorized access or security breach
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

4.2 Account Security

You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We implement industry-standard security measures, but cannot guarantee absolute security. Use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication when available.

4.3 Account Termination

By You: You may delete your account at any time through the account settings page.

By Us: We reserve the right to suspend, disable, or terminate your account at our sole discretion if:

  • You violate these Terms or our Privacy Policy
  • You engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal behavior
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period
  • We are required to do so by law or legal process
  • We discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice)

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We may retain certain data as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Rights

All content, features, functionality, trademarks, service marks, logos, designs, game mechanics, source code, and other intellectual property on Saltong Hub (collectively, "Content") are owned by Saltong Hub, its licensors, or other content providers and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

The Service is built using open-source technologies including Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Radix UI, and other libraries, which are used under their respective licenses.

5.2 Limited License to You

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include any right to:

  • Modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, reproduce, or create derivative works from the Service
  • Use the Service for commercial purposes without our written permission
  • Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices

5.3 Your Content

When you share game results or other content through the Service (such as social media shares), you retain ownership of that content. However, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute such content for operating and promoting the Service.

5.4 Feedback

If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us an unrestricted, perpetual right to use such feedback without compensation or attribution.

6. Privacy and Data Collection

  • FREEDOM FROM VIRUSES OR HARMFUL COMPONENTS

The Service is for entertainment purposes only. Any information provided should not be considered professional advice.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

8.1 No Liability for Damages

SALTONG HUB, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
  • LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES
  • DAMAGES RESULTING FROM:
    • Your access to, use of, or inability to access or use the Service
    • Any conduct or content of third parties on the Service
    • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your content or data
    • Interruptions or cessation of the Service
    • Bugs, viruses, or harmful code transmitted through the Service
    • Errors or omissions in any content

8.2 Maximum Liability

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100 USD).

8.3 Basis of the Bargain

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATIONS IN THESE TERMS REFLECT A REASONABLE ALLOCATION OF RISK AND ARE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF THE BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN YOU AND SALTONG HUB. THE SERVICE WOULD NOT BE PROVIDED WITHOUT THESE LIMITATIONS.

8.4 Jurisdictional Limitations

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Saltong Hub and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees and court costs) arising from or relating to:

  • Your access to or use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law or regulation
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or other proprietary rights
  • Any content you submit, post, or share through the Service
  • Your account credentials being used by you or any third party
  • Any dispute between you and another user

This indemnification obligation will survive termination of these Terms and your use of the Service. We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you.

10. Modifications to Terms

10.1 Right to Modify

We reserve the right to modify, amend, or update these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page
  • Notify you of material changes through the Service, email, or other reasonable means
  • Provide the revised Terms on this page

10.2 Your Acceptance

Your continued access to or use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.

11.1 Service Changes

We reserve the right at any time to:

  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part or all of the Service
  • Change game rules, features, or functionality
  • Impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of the Service
  • Remove or modify content, including game word lists

These changes may be made with or without prior notice.

11.2 Service Termination

We may suspend, disable, or terminate the Service entirely at our sole discretion. In the event of permanent Service termination, we will provide reasonable notice (at least 30 days when feasible) and options for you to export your data where technically possible.

11.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination of your account or the Service:

  • Your right to access and use the Service immediately ceases
  • We may delete your account data subject to our Privacy Policy and data retention obligations
  • Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive will remain in effect (including Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, and 12)

12. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms and any disputes arising from or relating to the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Philippines, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

12.2 Informal Resolution

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to first contact us at carl@carldegs.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will attempt to resolve the dispute through good-faith negotiations for at least 30 days.

12.3 Jurisdiction and Venue

Subject to Section 12.4, you agree that any legal action or proceeding arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Metro Manila, Philippines, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

12.4 Arbitration (Optional)

For certain disputes, the parties may mutually agree to resolve the matter through binding arbitration in accordance with Philippine arbitration rules, rather than through litigation.

12.5 Class Action Waiver

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.

12.6 Time Limitation

You agree that any claim or cause of action arising from or related to the Service must be filed within one (1) year after the claim arose; otherwise, such claim or cause of action is permanently barred.

13. Advertising

The Service displays third-party advertisements through Google AdSense. Advertisers may use cookies and web beacons to collect information and serve targeted ads. Your interaction with advertisements is governed by the advertiser's own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party advertisers.

14. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.

15. International Users

The Service is operated from the Philippines. If you access the Service from other jurisdictions, you are responsible for compliance with local laws. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the Philippines and other countries where we operate, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

16. Severability and Waiver

16.1 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

16.2 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Saltong Hub regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications, whether written or oral.

18. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction. Any attempted assignment in violation of this section is void.

19. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, pandemics, strikes, or shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.

21. Acknowledgment
